On a beach one night widow Christine Faber thinks she hears the voice of her late husband. In the darkness she meets a man named Alexis who knows about these things. After more manifestations from the afterlife Christine and her younger sister Janet become entangled with Alexis. He in turn finds himself manipulated into more devilry than he ever had in mind.
